PASTOR AMINU ABIODUN IBRAHIM

Pastor Aminu Abiodun Ibrahim, the Under-shepherd (Jesus being the Great Shepherd), of Christ the Living Word Church, was born on the 26th October 1947, to Mr. Abdul and Mrs. Asetu Ibrahim. As a devoted Muslim family, the parents ensured that young Aminu was enrolled into an Islamic school, where he got dedicated to learning Quran, from cover to cover, for the purpose of propagating the Islamic religion undiluted. Pastor Ibrahim was not an ordinary Muslim, but a leader, a teacher, and one that can be passed to an Imam.

He attended Benevolence High School (evening classes), Suru-Lere, Lagos, Nigeria and Pacific Printing School, where he obtained certificate in Printing and Lithography. After his formal education and vocational training as a printer, Pastor Ibrahim joined the services of the defunct, Nigeria Airways, as a printer, and became very successful in the department of printing of the organisation. He left Nigeria Airways as Senior Superintendent of Press. Pastor Aminu’s devotion and dedication to Islam was so practical and unequal. He was extremely-zealously involved into fulfilling all the requirement and teaching of Islam. Observing and practicing the 5 pillars of Islam was next to his skin. And he taught many other people the same way. The committed Aminu Ibrahim spent most of his adult life, before meeting with Christ, in preaching and making people to know that, Islam is the only religion that can take them to heaven (Aljanat).

As dedicated to Islam as he was, the old Mulim Aminu Ibrahim, found himself in danger many times, in his dream at night. Surprisingly to him, in all the times of these terrible dreams, the name that got him rescued from all the dangers, was the same name he was brought up to hate and disdain; the name of JESUS. As with many Muslims, Jesus is never to be believed or seen as a saviour, but just one of God’s servants and only a prophet.

Many Christians, for many years, preached the Gospel of Christ to Pastor Ibrahim, but he never believed them, despite his rescued experience through the name of Jesus, in dreams.

One day, however, whilst sitting in his living room, watching television, he saw where the name of Jesus was used to heal and brought about miracles. That moment caught his attention and got him convicted in his heart. He was convinced that, if Jesus’ name could do those things which were never done in the name of Mohammed, then Jesus must be the Lord and Saviour. From this moment, his tendered and conquered heart started believing God of the Bible and Father of Jesus Christ. This began the journey to his obtaining salvation.

This experience acted like a magnet, which drew the Now Pastor Aminu Ibrahim to want to know more about Christ and His Church. So, he made frantic efforts at following some Christian brothers to a local church around the vicinity where he was living. As with every converted Muslims, he began to desire more about God. In fact, his desire was far more than those he was following to the local church. He felt the need for greater exposition, an urgent knowledge, far greater than what he was getting at the new local church. To him, he wasn’t going to get what his heart was craving for, if he remained in the first church. In his urge, thirst and hunger for the knowledge, he discovered and started attending Deeper Christian Life Ministry Bible Study at The Redeem Christian Church in Oyingbo, Lagos mainland (RCCG headquarters then). That was before Deeper Life relocated to Gbagada area of Lagos, and later became a Church.

In his quest for more Godly knowledge, the same as he did while a Muslim, Pastor Aminu Ibrahim enrolled at Fellowship Bible College, Lagos, Nigeria between1983 and 1985. He graduated with a diploma in Theology. Also between 1999 and 2002, in furtherance of his desire for acquisition of knowledge, he attended Redeeming Voice Theological College London, under Professor Daniel, to pursue his B.A. in Theology.

Pastor Ibrahim faced serious persecution from both his parents and members of his family and friends. He was consistently and greatly persecuted by his community, and extended family members and friends, because he refused to renounce his new found faith in Christ Jesus, as a condition set out for reconciliation.

Pastor Ibrahim, officially left Nigeria Airways in March 1991 and has since been living in the UK. He was one of the men of God used to turn things around in Christ Apostolic Church, under the senior Pastor Emmanuel Medaiyse. He worked in C.A.C. in various capacities until he left to start Christ The Living Word in 2013 as District Superintendent.

The Lord had used and still using Pastor Ibrahim, through His grace, to minister to Muslims and he has won many of them to Christ than with other Christians, apart from Christians, won during his pastoral and evangelical outreaches and preaching, the Lord had used Pastor Ibrahim as a special tool, reaching Muslim world, through his experiences and testimonies to them.

The journey has not been easy at all; “But by the grace of God I am what I am:” now in Him. (1 Corinthians 15:10).
